About our Master Cooper
My name is Jeremy Waara and my passion is Coopering, more commonly known as barrel making. After trying every type of construction and fabrication trade possible since I was 15, at the age of 26, during a downturn in the housing market, I discovered this nearly lost art at a small facility in Avon MN. After 4 yrs, many promotions, and falling completely in love with the industry, I decided to put my efforts into learning the traditional methods and techniques that were almost all forgotten because of developing technology. Thus began my pilgrimage to becoming a Master Cooper. I went to a small school in Michigan, where I quickly became an instructor, and wrote my own classes. Now I am developing classes locally, teaching in Illinois at Crozehead Cooperage, and I make custom furniture using barrels out of my shop Transcendent Custom Cooperage.
